Communication is key to successful interaction
DEContracting is an electrical company that specializes in commercial, residential, and industrial electrical with over 20 years of experience.
design/development objectives
A brochure type website was needed to highlight the companies area of expertise and to enhance its web presence.
end result / features
- A flexible layout that could accommodate the content for each page in the best way possible, while resizing to fit any viewport (browser size). The footer is built to sit at the bottom of the viewport, irrespective of the page height.
- The bold, bright and scalable flash header on the homepage introduces the decontracting ethos, which is continued throughout the site in a more subtle, less distracting manner.
- The showcase is given primary focus. Each project is represented by high-quality photography and a brief, to-the-point synopsis. Clicking on the individual thumbnails launches an inline popup containing the full photograph.
- I added an e-mail form to the contact page;
- and a WordPress team blog (not yet live) to replace the previous 'News' section.
- The readibility of URIs and page titles was improved, which would in turn improve the site's SEO.
- The site's domain names were consolidated and submitted to search engines and appropriate industry directories.
